Meet the Owners

We’re Robert and Rebecca Coulson, the owners of Lavello Estate.

We established Lavello Estate in 2020 after selling our environmental company, RST Environmental Solutions. Our business began with a poplar and willow nursery, supplying trees to farmers for erosion control and shelterbelt planting, as well as to the carbon industry.

During his time at RST Environmental Solutions, Robert was involved in the development and design of willow brushwalls. These living retaining walls are used in the roading industry, particularly on rural road networks, forestry roads and farm tracks to fix slips and dropouts. They build on a long-established approach, using living willow as part of the retaining structure.

Our next chapter grew from a simple question: what else could we do with the wood waste from our nursery? We began experimenting with growing mushrooms, and those early trials developed into an important part of our business. Today, our mushroom range includes fresh mushrooms, seasonings and extract tinctures.

More recently, we welcomed Wuffs Barkery into the Lavello Estate family. We’ve kept its core range of dog treats unchanged, while introducing mushroom powders to selected treats.

Our son Tim shares our family’s enterprising spirit. He began beekeeping at just 11 years old, inspired by a beekeeper who visited his school. His business, City Slicker Honey, developed through the Young Enterprise Scheme while he was at high school. Today, Tim harvests honey from his hives in people’s gardens and the surrounding farmland. He keeps the honey from each apiary separate, so you can experience the distinctive flavours and colours of each location.

From growing trees to cultivating mushrooms and making dog treats, our story continues to evolve. We’re pleased to share that journey, and our products, with you.
