Our poles are perfect for on farm uses such as helping with soil conservation and erosion control, bioengineering, river protection, shelter belts, and fodder. Our shrub willows can also be used for brush-layer walls to repair slips in roads.
Poplars and willows are becoming popular amongst farmers looking at the Emissions Trading Scheme. The rules of this scheme include that the trees must grow over 5 metres tall, cover more than 1 hectare, and cover 30% of the area. The beauty of a deciduous tree is that they lose their leaves over winter allowing pasture quality to be maintained.
We harvest from May to August and can supply to anywhere in New Zealand. Although we have an online store, pre-ordering for the next season is essential to ensure we can provide the species and quantities that you’re after.
Lavello Estate have also established a mushroom growing operation using the wood waste from our nursery.
The mushrooms being grown are all New Zealand natives and although some will be sold fresh, most will be destined for the mushroom powder market.
Lavello Estate has also established a block of lavender which, once mature, will be available for sale.
